The officials of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), who are responsible for important civic tasks including the maintenance of sanitation in town, appear to have adopted a sluggish attitude as some of the officials are reportedly not arriving their office on time regularly.
Sources revealed that as per the office timings, the MCD officials are supposed to mark their attendance at 10 AM sharp but many officials reach office not before 1 PM. The delay by officials is causing inconvenience to the public.
BJP councillor Bhupendra Kathait complained that the senior rarely reach their office on time. With the senior officers not remaining punctual, even the junior employees are adopting a similar attitude. He also alleged that the senior city health officer Dr RK Singh hardly visits his office. This leads to the inconvenience of the general public. When asked about the reason behind the late arrival of officials at MCD, the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, Ashok Kumar stated that he don’t leave any scope for complaint in his work and performed his duties honestly.
He stated that in spite of the current staff crunch at MCD he tries to manage all work. Kumar said that recently an Executive Engineer and the Additional Mukhya Nagar Adhikari have been transferred from the corporation. Though it is tough to manage all task in absence of these officers, he is he trying to do his best, averred Kumar. The MNA also claimed the dual and triple charges given to some of the officials are also responsible for their late or irregular arrival to the office.
leader of Opposition at MCD, Ninu Sehgal said that there is no such fixed scheduled for the Mayor Vinod Chamoli as he receives no pay from the government. However, the councillors will raise the issue of officials reaching the office late, he said.
