The Interim Railway Budget presented by Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament on Wednesday has disappointed Dehradun residents, who were very positive that few new trains from Dehradun will be introduced. Kharge presented the Interim Railway Budget 2014-15, which was the last railway budget of UPA-II.
Daily commuters said that it is good news that the Union Minister has not hiked passenger fares and freight charges. But they expressed disappointment to know not a single train has been introduced by the Minister for Dehradun. Anushka, who was at Dehradun Railway station, said that its good that the Railway Minister has not increased the passenger fares but Dehradun is known as education hub of the country, some trains should be introduced from Dehradun.
Patelnagar resident Sohan Kumar said that new trains, connecting Patna, Allahabad, Banaras, Gorakhpur, Kolkata and other places ought to have been introduced as those running at present remain fully booked and it was difficult, if not impossible, to book tickets in emergency. According to him, the volume of traffic on trains bound for Bihar and Uttar Pradesh also merited a few more trains for the sizeable migrant population in the State.
