Apparently stung by the Congress unilaterally declaring its candidate for the ensuing RS election, its ally PDF decided to field State Cabinet Minister Dinesh Dhanai, one of the four PDF quota Ministers, as the PDF candidate. The PDF leaders convened an emergency meeting in Dehradun on late Saturday evening. PDF chief Mantri Prasad Naithani, the education Minister, announced the party’s decision following the meeting.
