During the post- lunch session when the House was dealing with the call attention motions placed by the Opposition, Gadarpur MlA Arvind Pandey raised the issue of a dacoity case at Nanakmatta in Udham Singh Nagar district. He alleged that the Congress-led State government has been framing BJP MlAs on trumped- up charges and collecting hefty sums from the transporters, who are engaged in unauthorised mining using police up to the hilt. “This is why the criminals are ruling the roost,” he said and demanded immediate discussion on it.
Showing how determined they were on the matter, the BJP MlAs jumped into the well of the House. Rudrapur MlA Rajkumar Thukral was seen vociferous on the matter being taken up for discussion. They also alleged that despite the city patrol unit (CPU) being brought into force to check crimes, the crime graphs has been alarmingly rising.
Piqued by what was happening, Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal asked the leader of the Opposition to restrain his MlAs. However, Bhatt said that with cases of dacoitis spiraling, the members should be allowed to raise the issue by giving notice under 310 of the House proceedings. Pandemonium followed and the House was disrupted for around five minutes at 5 pm.
