There has been an alarming increase in cases related to false registration of private and Government lands and other land disputes in Dehradun and other parts of the State.A considerable number of people are seen making repeated visits to the Police station concerned, Circle office, SP City office, SSP office, DIG office and Police Head Quarter.
However, most of such complainants return home with little more than verbal assurances from the police officers concerned.A visitor at SSP office said complaints related to land disputes were not registered at police station level unless the police station in-charge is pressurised by senior officers or politicians. Police do not act without receiving direction from their senior officers in such cases, added the visitor.
