Rep files CM's nomination in Dharchula

Congress candidates filed their nomination papers for the Assembly bypolls in three Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the State on Wednesday. Chief Minister and Dharchula candidate Harish Rawat is hospitalised at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, so his wife Renuka Rawat along with senior party leaders submitted the nomination, while Doiwala candidate Hira Singh Bisht filed his nomination along with Congress State co-incharge Sanjay Kapoor and cabinet ministers, while Someshwar candidate Rekha Arya filed her nomination along with local party leaders and supporters.

However, the party is likely to face some dissent in the Doiwala segment with local party leader SP Singh also considering the option of contesting as an independent candidate from here.

While the BJP is yet to announce the names of its candidates for the Assembly, the Congress candidates filed their nominations on Wednesday.

CM Harish Rawat's wife Renuka Rawat submitted his nomination in Dharchula in the presence of Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya, former PCC chief and cabinet minister Yashpal Arya and previous Dharchula MlA Harish Dhami who had vacated his seat for the CM.

Renuka Rawat said that the people in the State were happy with the functioning of the Congress led State government and party workers would unite to convince the people to vote for the Congress in the Assembly bypolls.

In Doiwala, Bisht, party leaders and supporters rallied before he filed his nomination. He said that the Congress-led State Government had facilitated development works amounting to about Rs 500 crore in the segment so the people would favour the Congress.

State party co-incharge Sanjay Kapoor expressed confidence at the chances of the party candidates to win the Assembly bypolls from the three constituencies.

Cabinet ministers Surendra Singh Negi, Dinesh Agarwal, parliamentary secretary Rajkumar and other party leaders and supporters were also among those present on the occasion.

For Someshwar constituency, Rekha Arya filed her nomination after rallying to the Almora Collectorate along with supporters.

However, the party is likely to face dissent with SP Singh considering the option to contest from Doiwala as an independent candidate after being denied the Congress ticket.

Singh had contested the Assembly election 2012 as an independent candidate from this constituency after being denied the party ticket and had rejoined the Congress during the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
