India has moved forward since its independence, but the colonial hangover continues to rule the roost in present system. Newly appointed Terai-west forest division's Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rahul's misconduct with his subordinates, as the employees concerned alleged, only gives that impression.

The agitated fourth class employees of the Terai-west forest division have alleged that DFO Rahul a few days ago asked his personal staff member Trilok Singh to get his shoes polished.

However, Trilok Singh showed his inability to follow the aforesaid order of his superior and raised the issue with the members of the fourth class van karmchari sangh (FCVKS).

Reacting strongly against to it, the members of the FCVKS have said that this kind of conduct of DFO Rahul is quite unacceptable.

More so, we have also come to know that DFO Rahul also misbehaved with another employee recently during duty. “Therefore, as the 'misconduct' of a senior forest officials like DFO Rahul, has hurt the sentiments of employees, we have now decided to stage protest in the office premises of the Terai-west forest division, Ramnagar here on Monday,” asserted Anand Rawat, State general secretary of the FCVKS, while talking to The Pioneer.

In case the DFO fails to regret his conduct or apologies, we would be compelled to intensify our agitation across the State from May 21, he further said. Various other organisations have also announced to extend their support to us, Rawat added. Therefore, we have decided to strongly take up this issue with the appropriate authorities as it is the question of honour of employees, maintained the agitating employees.

In the meanwhile, when asked have they been able to talk to the DFO concerned, Rawat clarified that there have been no talks in this regard with DFO Rahul. However, when the issue was taken up with the DFO concerned, he could not be contacted on phone.
