In order to conduct Uttarakhand Assembly by-poll in three segments- Someshwar in Almora district, Dharchula in Pithoragarh and Doiwala in Dehradun peacefully, the State police have identified sensitive and ultra sensitive polling booths in these segments. Out of 411 polling booths, 50 have been identified as hyper sensitive and 95 as sensitive, said Additional Director General of Police Ram Singh Meena on Friday. The district police heads have been directed to initiate effective measures to lower down the sensitiveness of polling centres which are categorised as sensitive and ultra sensitive in the poll bound segment in their respective district, he added.
Meena further said, “We have sent a proposal seeking deployment of six companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to the Central Government for ensuring peaceful completion of the Assembly bypolls in the state. Deployment of one company of CAPF during counting of votes has also been sought.” He further said that additional police force including CAPF personnel will be deployed at sensitive and ultra sensitive polling stations in the poll bound segments.
