Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said the State Government would soon open institutes for the skill development of those who remained illiterate but have inherited skills.

The Chief Minister while speaking at the ‘Saksharta Karyakram-2015’ organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad at Tagore theatre here also announced to provide land for setting up of a 200-bed hospital by Bharat Vikas Parishad at Panchkula.

He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the dictum ‘Padhe Bharat-Badhe Bharat’ which means there would not be any development without education. The Chief Minister said that this year, the pass percentage in Haryana for Class X is 48 per cent and for Class XII it  is 54 per cent, which is a matter of concern.

“The students cannot be blamed for this but to overcome the shortcomings in the management, the State Government would soon train teachers so as to provide the students with quality education. Besides this, moral education would also be provided to students by teaching verses of holy Gita,” he said.

He further added that not only holy Gita but also other significant  things mentioned in any scripture or literature would be included in the syllabus. Referring to the national programme ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’, he said “there were many evil practices being followed against our daughters and even now women in our society could not get that equal status and we are responsible for decline in the number of girls”.

In Haryana, there is low sex ratio and “to improve it, campaigns are being launched to spread awareness among people and there is a provision of harsh penalties for those involved in female foeticide”, he added. Manohar lal said that girls are provided with free education and under the scheme, a sum of Rs21,000 deposited in their accounts and they get Rsone lakh on completion of 18 years of age.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts of Bharat Vikas Parishad which was set up in 1963 with the vision of service, cooperation, contact and dedication and was working for the well-being of people, helping the helpless and helping in educating meritorious poor students.
