Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar lal on Monday said that a detailed plan has been prepared to strengthen the public transport system in the State.
Proposals regarding the places where metro services are required have already been prepared. These include Delhi-Kundli (Sonipat) Faridabad-Gururgram, Gururgram to Manesar and Bawal and TriCity from Chandigarh to Panchkula, said the Chief Minister while interacting with mediapersons aboard the Metro from Bata Chowk Metro Station, Faridabad, to Central Secretariat Metro Station, New Delhi.
During the journey, he also interacted with the residents of Faridabad, Gururgram and Delhi who were travelling in the Metro. He also took feedback from them on different subjects related to the state, and also heard their grievances.
While referring to the “Mann Ki Baat” programme, he said the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had said that people should prefer to use public transport.
Haryana Government would strengthen city bus service in cities like Karnal, Gururgram and Faridabad. Metro service would be started from Faridabad to Ballabgarh in the next six months, and construction of Metro link from Delhi to Mundtka and Bahadurgarh is also in progress. Haryana Government has already sent a plan to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to bring the Metro up to Kundli in Sonipat, he said.
Manohar lal said he liked to travel by public transport and whenever he got an opportunity, he used public transport without any hesitation. "After becoming the Chief Minister, I have travelled in Shatabdi Express, Volvo bus service and Metro train. Public transport provides an opportunity to communicate directly with the common people. Metro service is not only safe and convenient, but it also takes less time than road transport," he added.
