SANDAlWOOD SMUGGlERS arrested in hARYANA
Chandigarh: Haryana Police have busted a gang engaged in sandalwood smuggling arresting five members and recovering 250 logs of sandalwood worth crores of rupees from their possession in Sonepat district. The police have also recovered 245 boxes of liquor with duplicate seals from their possession.
Rs 5 l compensation for death of sewer worker
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Saturday announced that in case of unnatural death of a sewer man (Safai Karamchari) during work, a compensation of Rs five lakh would be given to his next of kin. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing the Safai Karamcharis at Faridabad said that it has been decided to recruit one Safai Karamchari over a population of 400 people and for this, a total of 13,428 posts have been created. The maximum age limit to fill up Group D vacancies has also been increased to 55 years for those who have 10 years experience of working in municipalities. As many as 1958 posts of Safai Karamcharis have been created in Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, he added. He said that grant amounting to Rs 763 crore has been given to local Bodies in the financial year 2014-15 for development and strengthening of infrastructure. Out of it, Rs 120 crore has been given to Municipal Corporation, Faridabad. The employees in municipalities were being regularised under various policies.
