PNS

The Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch has demanded that the State Government should conduct a thorough study to establish reasons as to why students’ attendance in schools is decreasing day-by-day.

“The State Government has decided to close nearly four hundred schools in Ganjam district on the plea of continued low attendance. It is a ‘cut head for a headache’ decision. The State Government should make a thorough study to establish reasons behind the low attendance before taking such an anti-people decision,” said Manch functionaries at a protest meeting held here recently.

Educationists like Gobinda Dash, Rajendra Kumar Panda, Chittaranjan Panda, Hadibandhu Mali, Maguni Nayak, Bhishmacharya Choudhury, Krushna Charan Panigrahi, Bhikari Behera, Shankuntala Roul and Siba Rao discussed various problems of education sector in the State. The meeting was presided over by manch coordinator Abani Kumar Nayak.

They slammed the Government for engaging teachers in various non-teaching works like preparation of mid-day mill, BPl survey work, Census and preparation of photo identity cards.“The teachers are being engaged in various non-teaching works and hence are not getting time to teach students. Parent have been fed up  and are not sending their children to schools,” they alleged.
