The Paradip Port Trust (PPT) CISF fire wing celebrated the National Fire Service Day on Saturday to pay homage to firemen and officers who lost their lives in Bombay dock explosion on April 14, 1944 and on subsequent occasions at the Main Fire Station.
A month long awareness programme from March 15 to April 14 was organised to educate the people about fire hazard, prevention and firefighting. The theme for the year 2018 is ‘Fire loss Is National loss– let Us Adopt Fire Safety Measures.’
The closing ceremony was held at the Main Fire Station. PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy was chief guest on the occasion. He said there should be well regulated systematic checks in place to avoid any fire related untoward happenings. All HODs of PPT, Heads and fire safety officers from different industries of Paradip, port users, school children and teachers attended.
CISF Commandant B Sundra welcomed the invitees and Deputy Commandant RVK Nair presented the annual report. Winners of various competitions were given prizes by the chief guest. A live fire demonstration was shown.
