The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch on Sunday rescued a pangolin and seized its scales near Rajakothi in Subarnapur district and arrested two persons in this connection.
The animal and its scales weighing 5.65 kg were being smuggled. Acting on a tipoff, STF officials intercepted the smuggler duo and rescued the pangolin alive besides seizing the scales.
The arrested persons were identified as Somnath Bag and Marsanal Bhengera, both of Subarnaur district. The pangolin was handed over to the Forest Department.
