The city Commissionerate police are now on the lookout of two brothers, Jaga and Balia of Kajipatna under the Cuttack Sadar police station, who are absconding since Sunday night after allegedly murdering their uncle Gagan Samal (35).
While city DCP S Praveen Kumar visited the spot on Monday morning, a special squad of the police is now raiding several places in search of the brother duo.
“The motive behind the murder is believed to be previous family feud over a piece of land,” Kumar said, adding that investigations are on after registering a murder case.
According to sources, Gagan was absconding for last six months after assaulting his brother Ramesh as the latter was not allowing Gagan to posses his share of parental property.
Despite the intervention of villagers, Ramesh and his sons were not yielding. Although Gagan remained underground all these days, he was often visiting village secretly to meet his mother.
On Sunday evening, while Gagan had come to the village, his nephews came to know about it and killed him on the outskirts of the village after repeatedly stabbing him with bhujalis, the police said.
