Vigilance police on Monday arrested Assistant Engineer Dasarathi Mahallik and Junior Engineer Basudev Mohapatra of Mayurbhanj district’s Badasahi Block on the charge of demanding and accepting graft of `14,000 from a person to pass final CC road bill worth `2.8 lakh in the latter’s favour.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Babulal Nayak of Ananda Brundabanpur village, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught Mohallik and Mohapatra while accepting bribe `14,000 as first installment from Nayak.
They had demanded `28,000 in two installments to issue the final bill. Residential two-storied building of the Junior Engineer at Mining Colony in Baripada Town and residential house of the Assistant Engineer at Sripadganj in Baripada Town are under search, informed an official release.
