The Kosal Kranti Dal (KKD), once told to be the only political alternative for liberation of western Odisha from the clutches of the coastal administration, is now under a serious leadership crisis, which has severely affected the movement for a separate Kosal State that began almost 70 years back. This was stated by KKD working president Baidyanath Mishra at a Press conference here on Friday.
Mishra alleged that the leaders, who headed the movement since 1946 till date, have failed to provide the desired level of leadership. This, coupled with the attitude of the elected representatives, has done great harm to an inclusive growth of western Odisha. The existing regional imbalance in the State is a testimony to this fact, he said.
Issues like a High Court Bench in western Odisha, shifting of the WODC headquarters to a place in western Odisha and inclusion of Kosli language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution still remain unresolved. The movement has, therefore, to be led by people who enjoy the trust and confidence of a sizeable population living in ‘Kosalanchal’. The road of the movement is to be revisited for course correction, Mishra added.KKD life member Sunil Mishra, historian Sasanka Sekhar Panda, founder members Surama Mishra and Swarup Mishra were present.
