Gaon Sathis begin stir from Ganjam

PNS

More than a thousand of Gaon Sathis staged a protest meeting in front of the Ganjam Collectorate at Chhatrapur on Wednesday to press for implementation of their five demands, including job regularisation.

Supporting the agitation, the Gaon Sathi Mahasangha State committee held a preparatory meeting at its State office in Bhubaneswar on the day under the chairmanship Mahasangha president laxmidhar Biswal.

With non-fulfillment of the five district-level demands, including issuance of work orders under the MGNREGS in favour of Gaon Sathis and appointment of eligible Gaon Sathis in vacant posts of the Panchayati Raj Department, the Gaon Sathi Mahasangha began its third-phase district-level agitation from the Chief Minister’s district, said Biswal.

Besides, block and district-level rallies would also be held in various regions of the State, he added.

“ It is planned that Gaon Sathis along with their family and relatives in large numbers will hold a mass convention in the Chief Minster’s Constituency of Hinjili in February”, Biswal added.
