The State Civil Society Fact Finding team consisting of renowned RTI Activist Pradip Pradhan, State secretary of Durniti Sangharsha Manch Sudhir Mohanty, Dalit Samaj State president Ashok Mallik and rights activist Sanjay Sahu visited Kamakhyanagar and Dhenkanal area where innocent villagers claiming land were lathicharged and met the victims.
They discussed with issue with Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo and SP Basant Kumar Panigrahi and demanded eviction from the land of 2.7 acre of the Soil Conservation department which is under occupation of one Jasobant Parida, a BJD leader and close aide of Minister Prafulla Mallick. Besides, they also demanded termination of Kamakhyanagar Sub-Collector and the then Tehsildar Kalpataru Behera, SDPO Seikh Abdul Karim and IIC Pravat Kumar Tripathy, who have illegally lathicharged the innocent landless tribals on December 27 night at Khatuahata. At least 500 were injured in the incident.
