Cong demands CBI probe

The Congress has demanded CBI probe into Itishree murder case. “Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) demands CBI investigation into the Iishree case for free and fair inquiry,” said PCC vice-president Sarat Rout.

PCC staged civil disobedience movements on Wednesday at all the blocks and municipalities across the State in protest against the State Government’s failure in providing relief to the calamity-affected people. After the agitation, an FIR had been lodged by Hatadihi block clerk against PCC president, vice-president, secretary and Pradesh Youth Congress president at a local police station.

“The FIR lodged by Hatadihi block clerk against PCC office-bearers and Pradesh Youth Congress president is baseless and politically-motivated,” Rout said. Addressing the media here, Rout said that the allegations leveled by the ruling BJD is nothing but a conspiracy against Congress.

“Rather the BJD workers set fire in the block offices to damage important documents,” he alleged. Raising the issue of Itishree Pradhan, he said that the Government has failed to ensure law and order, which is reflected in the rising cases of atrocities against women in the State.  “In her dying declaration, Itishree has pointed finger at the Chief Minister, BJD MP Jayram Pangi, DGP, Rayagada Collector and SP; hence, they should come under the purview of the investigation,” he said.
