Winter session opens Monday: Cong ready with a dozen issues

The winter session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly starting Monday is going to be stormy as the Opposition Congress is gearing up for a major confrontation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government over half a dozen issues. Besides, the Congress would seek extension in the duration of the session as there are lot many issues to be discussed and the tenure of five days fixed for it are very less.

Newly nominated leader of opposition in the state assembly Bala Bachchan while talking to The Pioneer said, “We would raise issues of Simhastha corruption, jail break Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists followed by their encounter, demonetization woes, farmers issues, irregularities in recognition of private schools , electricity, unemployment and others during the brief session.”

Bachchan further said meeting of the Congress legislative Party (ClP) would take place on Monday in Bhopal in that legislators would submit their local issues that would also be included the issues to be raised during the winter session.

“The session is too short as lots of hot issues need to be discussed; hence we are demanding that the duration of winter session should be extended. I have already written letters to the Governor, chief minister and legislative affairs minister and assembly secretariat in this regard, but till date there is no response from the Government over it,” Bachchan said.

He said that it is strange that SIMI activists breaks jails not once but twice in the state, the government needs to explain that how someone could escape from the high security with so much of ease and how after jail-break they are encountered within couple of hours.

He said that the whole opposition is united and would stand throughout the session and thereafter against the anti people BJP Government of the State led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the state and by Narendra Modi at the centre.

On being asked that you are talking of united opposition while your party Congress itself is not united the leader of opposition is said that Congress is very much united in the state and it is the result of that the margin of BJP’s victory in the Shahdol lok Sabha by-poll came down from two lakh plus to mere 60,000.

He said that we would also raise the issue of review of various departments in that rampart corruption is going on. Why the Government is not reviewing creates doubt over its working, he added.
