Staff Reporter

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has issued a clarification regarding the news published in one section of media on the academic calendar of the University.

University Rector lajpat Ahuja in a statement said that the news was misleading and not based on facts. It appears that by presenting facts mischievously in the news, attempts were made to give communal colour and tarnish the University's image. University's academic calendar is prepared particularly for academic activities and it has no connection with the annual calendar to be published by the University. The annual calendar carries information related with holidays on festivals like Eid, Christmas, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami and others, he added.

He informed that one section of media published the news which is misleading, false and not based on facts. It was published without proper investigation.

The Rector said that the university's academic calendar is prepared for academic purpose. The tradition to issue academic calendar is going on in the university for previous years. Week-long Deepawali and Holi vacations have been included in the calendar. Besides, holidays on festival likes Eid, Christmas, Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi and others have been included in the annual calendar of the university.

He further said that all holidays including festival holidays, sanctioned by the State Government have been mentioned in the annual calendar. Holiday on September 2 due to Eid-Ul-Adha and optional holiday on September 1 due to Eid-Ul-Adha have been mentioned in the annual calendar this year.

Academic calendar to be issued by State Higher Education Department does have information related with long vacation like Deepawali vacation and not one-day holiday.
