The Excel sheet related to the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam submitted by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh to the Special Investigating Team (SIT) has turned out to be a forged one. The SIT on Friday submitted to the High Court the report regarding the outcome of the investigation of the Excel sheet.
The revision bench of Chief Justice Manikrao Khanwilkar and Justice Alok Aradhe has found the investigation conducted by the SIT as true. Now, an FIR could be registered on the ‘source’ of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh.
Notably, the MP High Court had sought documents received from the Delhi High Court and the Excel sheet investigation report by April 23. Digvijay Singh had submitted the Excel sheet to the SIT stating that the Excel sheet, on whose basis the STF is investigating the MPPEB scam, has been tampered with and he had claimed that the Excel sheet he had submitted was original.
Earlier, Singh at a press conference had alleged that the original Excel sheet was tampered with by replacing ‘CM’ with ‘Minister’, ‘Raj Bhawan’ and ‘Uma Bhartiji’. During investigation, the SIT had matched the submitted Excel sheet with that available in the hard disk recovered from main accused Nitin Mahindra’s computer and received from Gandhinagar-based forensic laboratory.
Having submitted the report in the court, the SIT has considered the documents submitted by Digvijay Singh as misleading and urged the court to register an FIR against those misleading the investigation. On Thursday, a team of the STF had visited Singh at his residence and recorded his statements. When asked about the source of the excel-sheet, Singh had told police that he had received it from Prashant Pandey. Notably, the police had sought help from Pandey in the beginning of the investigation in the MPPEB scam.
Soon after the High Court’s decision came out, politics has started in the case. State BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan has said that Digvijay Singh’s politics that has been based on lies, has come to an end now. With the decision of the court, Singh has been exposed completely as he conspired for falsely implicating Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Besides, State Congress chief spokesman KK Mishra has all the allegations of Digvijay Singh were based on facts and documents. The Congress and Digvijay Singh had earlier stated that they did not believe in the investigation of the STF. “The option to move Supreme Court is still open for us. If we fail to get justice there too, we would go to the court of people,” Mishra added.
