All the six accused of raping a Swiss tourist near Sewdha in Datia district have been arrested. According to Datia superintendent of police Suresh Chandra Shekhar Solanki, the accused are Baba, Rampro, Bhuta, Gaja alias Brajesh and Vishnu and Nitin.

The laptop, charger, mobile phone and Rs5,500 in cash looted from the tourist couple, have been seized from the accused. A 12 bore gun has also been seized from them.

“The accused will be cross-examined and the stolen articles will be returned. We will conduct a DNA test of the accused to confirm the rape and after investigation is completed, they will be punished for the crime,” said Dilip Arya, Deputy Inspector General, Chambal range.

The Swiss woman and her husband were touring the state on bicycle and were camping overnight in the forest. Seven men attacked the couple in their tent and four of them raped the woman.

The accused are residents of a village near the forest. After questioning the locals of the village, it came to light that the culprits had teased the Swiss woman earlier, but after being scolded by her husband, they had retracted.

It was only later in the night that they attacked their camp and committed the crime. The woman was later taken to Gwalior for medical examination and has since been discharged from the hospital.

“After the report was filed last night, we tried for a medical examination of the victim, but as there are no female doctors in Datia, the victim was sent to Gwalior for medical examination. The tests on her were conducted there,” said a police officer, NKS Gurjar,.

Meanwhile, the victim woman left for Delhi along with her husband. Earlier, she had told the police that the culprits were masked and could be identified with the help of her laptop.
