Ronnie Screwvala and Mayank Kumar’s UpGrad, an online higher education platform for working professionals, and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) have collaborated to launch PGD in Data Analytics. The programme, slated to go live in May 2016, has been created to bridge the gap between industry needs and the expected shortage of over 1.5 million professionals with expertise to make data driven decisions.
This nine-month online programme will train over 10,000 professionals and include modules in statistics, data visualisation and business intelligence, predictive modelling, machine learning and big data. The programme will also feature a three-month industry project where students will work on real industry problems in a domain of their choice. The academic framework and pedagogy of the programme is conceptualised and designed by leading faculty members of IIIT-B in collaboration with a network of corporate partners, guest lecturers and industry speakers. The programme will also bring in industry mentors to provide students with hands on learning experience and employment opportunities.
The platform enables seamless content delivery across devices, along with facilitating a strong peer to peer learning environment. The programme also offers live lectures, group assignments, teaching associates and a strong personalised student support team and much more.
