General level of intelligence of today’s youths has significantly gone up than before. Why not, when they begin from where their parents stand. Evidently, they have to be ahead of their parents. In terms of academic achievements too, they’ve been doing well. In fact, they’ve made a mark for themselves even in the developed world. But the point to ponder is: “Are they relatively happier than earlier on the above mentioned strengthsIJ”
The above virtues have definitely armed the present day youth better so far as career aspects are concerned. It cannot be said so about other departments of life. For, the sense of achievement also raises one’s ego level and with that, the sense of freedom tempts them to live on one’s own exclusive terms, often not caring for others’ concerns and sensibilities. In fact, the present day youth have become more volatile. They have become impatient and intolerant and aspire to get things quickly. As a consequence, personal life seems to have been the worst victim.
Parents feel that if the prospective partner for their ward is well qualified and earn well, the couple’s life will turn out good. What they often forget is that this is no measure of happiness. Seldom do they realise that any empowerment tool happens to be a double-edged weapon, as it carries an equal probability of its use or misuse. So, how an empowerment tool is employed will define its implications. And that depends on the orientation of each mind.
Mind as such is well equipped to guide us the right way. There are three functional constituents of mind, namely Buddhi (faculty of discriminate intelligence), Ahamkara (sense of ‘I’), and Manasa (sense driven mind). They are set to function in a coordinated way. In this scheme of things, Manasa, acting from the front, is assigned with the task to collect field data, applying the sensory instruments of knowledge. Ahamkara directs Manasa to deliver the data to Buddhi for due diligence. Following dispassionate judgment, Buddhi directs Manasa how to react or respond. But often, Ahamkara identifies itself with inherent orientation of mind. And in case of an impatient mind racing with time, which remains the case with majority of youths these days, Ahamkara does not allow time and space to invoke Buddhi for its job. Instead, it prompts Manasa to react animal-like on instinctive judgment. And for want of due diligence, there’s every chance that one may pick an inappropriate lead.
It, therefore, becomes incumbent upon us to figure out the inherent frame of mind, so that necessary corrective initiatives could be taken well within time. The paradox, however, is that of late, egotistical minds caught up in doing higher and complicated things, have forgotten the fundamentals of life, as if they would have outgrown their limits, and with obvious consequences.
In earlier times, parents of children at marriageable age, used to make thorough check of the personality and family traits of the prospective partners. Of course, education and finance used to be there in mind, but the prime focus was on individual’s personality. These days, on the contrary, the prime focus has shifted to education and wealth rather than the making of the man. As a consequence, marital happiness and stability remains premised on a very fragile ground. Consequently, incidence of marital turbulence and break has been growing beyond proportion.
Here is a case in point of a couple faced with serious marital turbulence. The parents of both the partners, satisfied with physical features, academic qualification, and career status, rushed through their marriage. Once they got settled in marriage, fissures began to appear, which over a period of time gravitated and then firmed up. Meanwhile a child was born to them. And as the child is growing, the two partners are getting distanced more and more. WhyIJ
look at the astrological pointers of their personality traits. Main pointers of the man are: Gemini lagna, Moon occupying Sagittarius sign, and locked in adverse formation to the Sun and Mars. That makes the man tactless, undiplomatic, irritable, argumentative, and the one who wishes to live on one’s own exclusive terms. Against that, the woman was born in Cancer lagna, with its lord Moon posited in fiery sign Aries and pitted against Uranus. That makes her aggressive, impulsive, rash, irrational, quarrelsome, suffering from unpredictable mood swings, and with a mercurial temperament. And the result is there to see. In the process, the poor child is suffering.
