An avid reader of this column following the ‘Can we shape our destiny’ series has raised a thought provoking question that needs to be addressed: “Astrology is a destiny defining predictive discipline. How come you often describe it being a very effective diagnostic tool to ‘know the self’IJ” Well, if you go by the blind belief propounded by half-knowing pundits that everything in life is preordained, with no scope for making any exception, I can’t help you. For, it is just one part of the story. Remember, life is driven by a cause-effect chain, whereby every event is culmination of the seed sown beforehand in mind. The said seed is a reflection of karmic quotient carried over from the past, which first excites desire trend. In turn, that translates into action to eventually culminate in an event.
So, every event has to have a prelude. And, what I usually talk about is just the other side of what the pundits predict and the more important one – the prime mover. Remember, there are two sides of a coin, which one is there in sight, depends on is which face you wish to look for. The question now is: Why I prefer talking about the prime mover rather than eventIJ For, should we become aware of what factors define and drive the former, we can very well try making necessary amends, before they could play upon us to our detriment. Be it known, mind is that unique empowerment tool, which could see its own image in the mirror it creates for itself. Having thus known one’s inherent trends through self-exploration, the power of freewill, which grants us with the privilege to guide our actions by choice and discrimination, could be invoked for necessary intervention.
To make things further clear, a look into the premise on which astrology works, becomes imperative. Remember, the whole of world is framed as a unified integrated organism, where no particular set of dynamism holds a reality independent of the totality. The obvious connect and correspondence between different dynamisms becomes imperative, whereby in case of any reverberation at one end, their echoes would be felt at the other.
Going by the above logic, the planetary line up at a particular moment, when seen with reference to a particular place, will serve as a marker for energy-flux excited by nature at that moment. And since, every existence is nothing but manifestation of nature driven energies, the planetary alignment qualifies to serve as a mirror image of a being born at that moment. It speaks of a being’s life two ways. First, it speaks of the basic fabric of one’s making, coming as it may with the karmic carryover from the past birth, in terms of one’s self-belief’s, potential, desire-trends, habits and attitudes. Second, as the planetary-bodies progress, the varying dynamics of energy flux excited by nature, will speak of how life is expected to evolve in future. So, if it could reflect upon how life is expected to evolve, it does also tell us about what factors would drive to that end.
let us look at the chart of a person in the above light. This man had tiff with his superiors on some trivial issue. He lost his cool and resigned in a huff. He thought that if he could earn so much for the company, he would successfully do it for himself as well. And so, without applying his mind, hurriedly he launched his own business. He had so far led the marketing team of the company with due support from a large team spread across the country. He had no taste of other aspects of the business. With limited resources in hand, the scale of business too had to be obviously low, which he carried on with a small team. So, when faced with hard realities, it became difficult for him to cope up. The question now is: What made him invite his own perilsIJ
look at the man’s habits and attitudes responsible for his impulsive decision without applying proper forethought. The Sun locked in adverse formation with mischievous Neptune makes him stuck to a world of his dreams distanced from ground realities. Moon placed adverse to debilitated Mars and Mercury, speaks of an impulsive, temperamental, moody, irritable person, lacking in patience and concentration necessary for due diligence. Venus is ill-disposed to the Sun as well as Neptune pointing to an emotionally volatile person, too much touchy, who may get provoked beyond limit over trivial issues. And the result is there to see.
