Today, I begin with a sad note, as a former Chief Minister of a North Eastern State committed suicide in a state of desperation. The reason could be any, which the investigative agencies may be able to figure out in course of time. Death is a natural phenomenon of life, we all know. But, when somebody does it out of one’s own accord, it is simply difficult to digest. For, it has to have psychological connotation, which calls for attention.
There is nothing new about people committing suicide all across. But what calls for our attention is that a man who has held high positions for almost 20 years took this extreme step. For, as a political leader, he was supposed to serve as a guiding spirit for common people often faced with extremely stressful situations.
It is important to note here that, if a man of humble beginnings could make it to such a high position, it comes out that his journey would have been arduous, braving great challenges. So, by any measure, he cannot be termed a weakling. Yet, if he took such a gruesome step, calls for looking into the working of mind and psyche.
The question now is: “How come a man of such grit and resolve, who made it to high position even facing hunger and deprivation in early life, took such an extreme stepIJ” We all know that in a world made out of an assorted group of disparate people, faced with conflict of interests, life as such cannot move to one’s asking. At the same time human beings are endowed with ‘Buddhi’ (the faculty of discriminate intelligence). This exclusive human preserve, grants us with the privilege to guide our actions by choice and discrimination. Evidently, therefore, we are empowered to intelligently deal with challenges coming our way. Yet, if the man took such an extreme step would mean that it had to be a mindless impulsive action in the heat of moment.
This man approached me on the closing day of 2014, after he was unceremoniously dropped from the Cabinet. He wished to know whether he would be successful in his endeavour to replace the man who slighted him. At that stage he was one man army. The chart of the moment suggested that he carried the promise of fulfillment of his desires. But grave danger lied ahead, and so he had to be on full mental alert. Also, he carried a few mental infirmities, which called for continued guidance from a proven mentor, so that his actions were reasoned.
The referral chart drawn for the moment when the man first approached me, makes out an interesting reading. The 11th sub-lord Moon, identified with fulfillment of desires, occupied the destiny indicating 9th house. Moon was posited in the lunar constellation owned by Venus, the lord of 10th house identified with position of honour and dignity. Venus, though in the 5th house, but was closing up with the 6th cusp identified with success over adversaries.
10th sub-lord Saturn occupied the 4th house, incidentally the 6th lord, in exchange with Mars the 4th lord. Both respectively occupied their self owned lunar constellations, also involving the 10th lord Venus. That indicated a change of guard to his advantage. Moon well aligned to Mercury and the Sun, indicated his high intelligence, excellent communicative skill, and a firm resolve. The obvious implication was that though it may take some time, but he was promised of fulfillment of his desires. So, it happened during the period indicated by the chart.
The paradox, however, was that exchange of Mars and Saturn also indicated grave danger, even to his life. Moon occupying fiery sign Aries and also ill-disposed of to the sign lord Mars, spoke of his impulsive, aggressive and irritable nature. Mars opposed to Jupiter pointed towards his inflated ego. The Sun placed adverse to Uranus posited in the 8th house identified with death and destruction, made him vulnerable to sudden and erratic act. Mercury ill-disposed off to erratic Rahu made him vulnerable to sudden unreasoned act. He remained in touch till he made it to the high office, but lost touch thereafter. The idea is not to draw fault lines of the deceased, but to draw lessons out of this sad event.
To sum up, we need to be conscious about timely identification of our inherent mind-trends, for the sake of necessary correction. Also keep touch with the mentors and be receptive to their dispassionate counsel. For, higher you rise in life, graver would be the challenges.
