Almost the whole of human order seems to be suffering from what may be termed as ‘identity-crisis’. The developed West, despite having acquired material riches fast, is internally restive. For, chasing tempting influences of the seeming world, they hardly have the time to attend to the callings of their inner-self that have been craving for peace, love, and happiness. This inner void does not allow them to be at peace either with the self or the rest. That tempts them to explore such avenues as would address their inner cravings. And, high flying that they are, wish to attain it fast.
The difficulty with them is that their existing Christian faith mechanism, in which they are rooted, is not compatible with latest scientific perception, which keeps them bewildered. For, science believes that the world has emerged out of a ‘Singularity’. On the contrary, the concept of ‘Duality’ driving their philosophy, there remains a clear cut disconnect between God and the ‘Existential order’. This seems to have created inner conflict between their indwelling belief and scientific findings, which seems to have created an identity crisis in them. What complicates the mind’s journey even more is the fact modern science does not have any concepts or mechanism that could relate and address psychological concerns of human beings.
But one good thing that they have done, courtesy communication revolution, they have been able to turn the whole world into a global village. And that has made it possible for them to explore alternative philosophies far beyond their usual reach. Their roving eyes seem to find natural appeal in Eastern mysticism. For, ancient India’s philosophy is premised on the concept of ‘non-duality’, whereby the whole of ‘living Order’ has spontaneously emerged out of a singular ‘Primordial Source’. Therefore, though their phraseology may vary, but it almost runs on similar lines as modern science.
In this scheme of things, the ‘force of consciousness’ emanating from none other than the primal-source, is believed to be available to one and all, inert and living, all included. This very force not simply grants us with the ‘Power of Knowing’, but also creates ground for being in connect with all and sundry. So, continuum exists all through the run of creation right from the source to the manifest. Evidently, therefore, turning our attention to this very power-house, it becomes possible to understand and appreciate the dynamics of life in holistic terms. But at the same time, it becomes difficult for them to digest how materially poor East could be internally so rich.
The East, on the contrary, gets enamoured by material riches of the West and the modalities developed for paced growth. That has naturally heightened their aspirational urges. Fast tracking that route, the Indians seem to have lost touch with their rich spiritual heritage. Because of this disconnect between their inner and outer callings, they too, have become restive, impatient, intolerant. The consequential disconnect with collective existence has become a natural casualty. We are heading fast towards a big chaos beyond easy reprieve.
The dent has become so grave that it now finds reflection in an individual’s day-to-day conduct. If ever things do not move on expected lines, immediately a sense of despair overtakes one’s mind, and sense of insecurity that follows, induces a sense of ‘identity crisis’. The unnecessary brooding and contemplation that follows, further drains their energy and clutter their mind so much that they often lose their sense of reasoning. Thereafter, instead of exploring reasons for having failed to make it the desired destination, and fix up infirmities, they continue pursuing their fanciful dreams and with obvious consequences.
A case in point is that of a very ambitious man who dreamt of making big. He got opportunities one after other, but couldn’t hold on to it for long. The reason: He never cared to look at his fault lines and correct his personality imbalances. look at his astrological pointers. The Sun well disposed of to benevolent Jupiter brought him opportunities. But again Sun, which is also conjunct Saturn and Neptune, is placed adverse to restive Rahu. That, makes him live in a fanciful dream world distanced from ground realities. Also, being habitually suspicious of all often misdirects his energies attending to his scheming against assumed onslaught from near and dear ones. On top of that is his inflated ego, as would Jupiter ill-disposed off to Mars, imply. And the result is there to see.
