Having gone into different aspects of ‘law of Karma’ in the previous issues, the focus turns to ‘mind’ in so far as karmic journey of a being is concerned. For, it is our mind, which, in the first place, carries forward imprints of karmic accruals from the past. Second, it processes and also provides the ground necessary for those imprints to bloom out into effect. And should you just submit to the usual callings of your acquired karma, you remain stuck to the labyrinth of cause-effect chain, and with no scope to escape their travails.
Mind, however, is not just mandated to blindly follow the footprints of our karmic-accruals. It is also empowered to administer our journey of life, provided we allow free run to its discriminatory faculty. On this strength, it could rescue us out of the preconditioning of mind circumscribed by our karmic carry-over, which if left unrestrained, future course of life would look like being fully preordained.
As already discussed in the earlier issues, mind is empowered to learn afresh from proven gurus and scriptures about the dynamics of life in holistic terms. Based on these educative inputs, it could evaluate inherent undesirable desire-trends, habits and attitudes, and indwelling self-defeating tendencies, by looking within and watching the inflowing thought-trends.
Accordingly, it could take necessary corrective initiatives, which, in the first place, would outwit the negative tendencies from coming into play. Second, it could reorient the thought process for the sake of giving a qualitative turn to life. Third, it could also figure out inlaid potential, hone them well, and let them bloom out in full. Not simply that, it could stretch beyond the known, explore hidden mysteries of nature and thereby life, and evolve further. Had human beings not been so empowered, no scientific or technological inventions and innovations would have happened. Even philosophers would not have been able to comprehend the subtleties of life in such detail.
It thus comes out that given a free rope, mind would know no limits. And so, it is within mind’s reach to enlighten dark clouds of ignorance. Also, make even conscientious intervention to relieve us from the pains and sufferings as would our karmic accruals call for.
To sum up, mind could act both as a benefactor or a devil, according as it is framed. It is now for us to exercise our power of freewill, which is duly aided by the faculty of discriminate intelligence, to address the devil within and come out with our best. Now, when it comes to the question of how to checkmate the devil within, one would need to strike at it roots laid down in the deep realm of mind, for necessary correction from the base level. The process to be adopted has to be accordingly designed, and which none other than the self could efficiently carry on this task. It is difficult to digest that any pundit could invade other’s mind-space for necessary correction.
That makes questionable the efficacy of one stop solution through belief driven pujas directed towards appeasement of planetary gods that pundits conduct. Remember, the planetary bodies to whom we supposedly assign being the cause for our pains and sufferings are nothing but energy-balls available in equal proportion to all of us. And unlike human beings, they are devoid of the discriminatory abilities to selectively acknowledge our pujas and extend their patronage in turn.
Would it mean that these planetary bodies have no bearing on our livesIJ They do, but not the way the pundits project. It is pertinent to note here that the planetary bodies are nature driven energy providers operating from the front. And we need to access energies available from all these sources in the right proportion due. That, however, does not seem likely as human beings are necessarily born imperfect. We, therefore, are not able to draw the right mix of energy and there remains void of some energy component and excess of some other.
The fact of life is that the energy-mix we draw from nature, varies from person-to-person, according as one’s individual-specific energy-construct, coming as they may with their varying karmic accruals. And that holds the key to varying personality traits reflected by different beings. That makes it incumbent upon us to go for two fold corrective measure to make up for our deficiency. First, balance the energy-mix. Second, address personality related infirmities. The two need to be attended hand-in-hand. How to go about shall be discussed in the concluding issue to follow.
