Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company (MPUDC) organised a workshop on the role of urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the operation and maintenance of water supply and sewerage projects in the state capital on Friday.
The workshop was attended by public representatives and chief municipal officers, including the chairpersons of 21 civic bodies under Bhopal, Narmadapuram, and Sagar divisions.In his keynote address, Additional Commissioner and Additional Managing Director of MPUDC, KL Meena, said that the workshop aims to increase dialogue between the public representatives of the local bodies and the company.He said that the participation of local public representatives is critical to the success of the project, as it is meant for the local bodies alone.
In his speech, ENC Anand Singh said that with the rapid growth of urban areas, water supply and sewerage management have emerged as critical development parameters for any developed city.
At the beginning of the workshop, Deputy Project Director (Technical) Shailendra Shukla outlined the objectives of the workshop and the projects implemented by MPUDC, an undertaking of the Urban Development and Housing Department.
