Vedanta ESL Steel Limited, has launched a Millet-based Nutri-Shake Distribution Program as part of its commitment to community welfare and societal development. This initiative, aligned with the Prime Minister's Poshan Abhiyaan, was launched across 50 Nand Ghars in Jharkhand during Rashtriya Poshan Maah, a national campaign aimed at combating malnutrition in India.
Project Nand Ghar, inspired by Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal, is at the core of the company’s nutrition-focused efforts, providing essential nutrition to children. The Nutri-Shake Distribution Program specifically aims to promote healthy growth and development among children by distributing over 10,000 millet protein shakes. These shakes, rich in essential vitamins and minerals, support the government’s mission to reduce malnutrition and raise awareness about balanced nutrition from an early age.
The launch event was attended by key officials, including Meenakshi Sabharwal (CQO), Kunal Daripa (Head CSR), and Abha Kumari (Health Counselor at Bokaro Sadar Hospital). During the event, attendees received education on nutrition, anemia, and the importance of a balanced diet. Traditional ceremonies such as God Bharai for expecting mothers and Anna Prasan for a six-month-old child were also held to mark the occasion.
Speaking on the initiative, Kunal Daripa, Head of CSR, said, “Through our 50 Nand Ghars in Jharkhand, we are addressing the critical issue of childhood malnutrition by providing nutrient-rich, traditional superfoods. This program aligns with the Prime Minister’s Poshan Abhiyaan, ensuring that children attending Nand Ghars receive the nourishment they need for a healthy future.”
