The Yogi Adityanath government continues to break records in the energy sector, establishing Uttar Pradesh as a leader in power distribution, an official statement said.

Driven by a commitment to provide electricity to every household and ensure uninterrupted supply to industries, the state has achieved remarkable progress. Uttar Pradesh now stands ahead of developed states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh in domestic electricity distribution, with 62% of the total connected load dedicated to the domestic category—compared to only 25–35% in these states, the statement added.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state’s power distribution companies (DISCOMs) met a record peak demand of 30,618 MW, providing uninterrupted electricity to 3.45 crore consumers during the peak summer season, the statement said.

This feat was made possible by the construction of over 4,677 power substations and efficient supply across HT and LT voltage levels.

The Yogi government’s proactive measures have ensured a reliable electricity supply, with rural areas receiving an average of 18 hours of power daily, tehsil headquarters receiving 21.5 hours, and urban areas enjoying a 24-hour supply, according to the statement.

These advancements are complemented by an increase in revenue recovery, which has reached 84.36% in the financial year 2023–24, thanks to better management and funding support of Rs 46,000 crore for subsidies and loss mitigation, the statement said.

In addition to improving supply, the government is making strides in modernising the energy infrastructure. Under the RDSS scheme, projects worth Rs 16,500 crore are underway, including the installation of 2.85 crore smart meters and the implementation of advanced power systems in cities like Noida, Kanpur, and Varanasi.

These initiatives reflect the Yogi government’s unwavering resolve to illuminate every home while supporting industrial growth, the statement added.
