A two-day training programme was launched at the seminar hall of the Judicial Court in Garhwa on Thursday, under the directives of NALSA and JHALSA, with guidance from Nalin Kumar, the Principal District and Sessions Judge. This initiative is part of the NALSA Scheme for Child Friendly Legal Services for Children.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by Nalin Kumar, who not only holds the position of Principal District and Sessions Judge but also acts as the Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority. He was accompanied by District and Sessions Judge (l) Dinesh Kumar, Permanent Lok Adalat Chairman Ravindra Nath Tripathi, and Ravi Chaudhary, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.
During the training session, Principal and District Sessions Judge Nalin Kumar stressed the vital role children play as the nation’s future. He urged society to advocate for children's interests to prevent them from taking wrongful paths. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that information reaches those children who are excluded from mainstream society, underscoring the significant contribution of para-legal volunteers in conveying this message across all levels of society.
District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Kumar spoke on the legislation aimed at the welfare of children and the need for a child-friendly environment in the court system. He urged law enforcement to perform their duties in a child-sensitive manner, asserting that the advancement of the country and society relies on the development of its children.
The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Garhwa, announced that the training programme would resume on the 28th and 29th of November 2024, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Various experts, including members of the Juvenile Justice Board Vinay Pal, Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee Pranav, and Rakesh Kumar Tripathi, have been invited to share insights on issues concerning children.
Notable participants from the legal services unit included Deputy Chief LADC Nityanand Dubey, panel advocates Parshuram Pandey, Premchand Tiwari, Sanjeev Kumar Pandey, Shiv Kumar, Deepak Kumar Singh, Arvind Kumar Shukla, Raj Kumar, and a dozen para-legal volunteers.
