Tribal woman alleges rape, forced religious conversion in Garhwa

A tribal woman in Ranka police station area has alleged that a Muslim man forced her to convert to another religion and forcibly raped her several times. 

The victim alleged that a man from Dudhwal village forced her to convert to another religion, and raped her on the pretext of marriage.

The incident came to light when the woman filed a complaint vide Complaint no. 972/2024 before the court of Anulika Kumar against Mohd Izhar Ansari, Nadeem Ansari and Sultana Parveen on Saturday. On the complaint of the complainant court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Anulika Kumar ordered the Ranka police station to register an FIR.

The victim has alleged that there are 300 houses in the village. She is the only tribal woman among them. She mention in her complaint  that Mohd. Izhar Ansari is Mukhiya of Dudhwal Panchayat. In the year 2003, when she was 14 years old, he forcibly entered her house and raped her at gunpoint by threatening her of being a Naxalite. Since then, he continued to forcefully have physical relations with her. Meanwhile, she was forced to undergo abortion three times.  His atrocities against the victim increased when he kept pressuring her to convert to Islam by threatening her not to marry in his community.

He threatened that if she did not do so, she would be forced into prostitution. Fed up with the accused, she had appealed for protection by giving an application to the Ranka police station in-charge, Superintendent of Police Garhwa, Deputy Inspector General of Police Palamu and Human Rights Commission, Women Commission Ranchi, Inspector General of Police Ranchi. After no action was taken against the accused, she filed a complaint in the court and prayed for justice. 

Ranka Officer in charge Praveen Kumar said that when the order from the court, a case will be registered in the matter and action will be taken after investigation.
