In a move geared towards helping citizens give up tobacco, the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) on Tuesday dedicated a de-addiction facility for this purpose.

The Tobacco Cessation Clinic is part of the Tobacco-Free Campaign 2.0, which was inaugurated virtually by Union Minister of State for Health, Pratap Rao Jadhav, from his office in the national capital.The clinic at BMHRC will provide assistance to individuals who desire to quit tobacco or gutkha.

This clinic will operate every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM under the Department of Psychiatry.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manisha Shrivastava, Director in charge of BMHRC, said, "Given the serious health issues associated with tobacco addiction, this initiative is extremely important. We are committed to providing proper support and assistance to those who are trying to quit tobacco.

"Patients at this clinic will be treated by Dr. Sanjukta Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry. Counseling and medications will be provided, and a personalized treatment plan will be developed based on the severity of the addiction in each patient.

The clinic is part of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 2.0, aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and providing support to those seeking to quit."BMHRC remains committed to providing advanced medical services, and this new clinic marks another important step in the field of public health and rehabilitation," said a statement released to the media.
