Senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party president M Mallikarjun Kharge are among the party’s 40 star campaigners for the Lok Sabha election in Chhattisgarh.
The list of star campaigners was issued on Saturday by the Congress Chhattisgarh unit.
Other members include its state-in-charge Sachin Pilot, Rajani Patil and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Congress leader from Haryana Kumari Selja, actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar, former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das, Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi and former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar have also been named in the list.
Among the leaders from Chhattisgarh named as star campaigners are party chief Deepak Baij, Leader of Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo and six former state ministers.
Elections to the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state will be held on April 19 and 26 and May 7 and votes will be counted on June 4.
The BJP won 10 out of Lok Sabha seats in the state in 2004, 2009 and 2014. However, in the 2019 polls, the BJP won nine seats.
