The process of shifting the Cath Lab at Hamidia Hospital will commence in December–January and conclude within a 2–3 month period.
Dr Sunit Tandon, the hospital superintendent said "The new facility is still under construction on the 3rd floor of Block One; civil work should conclude around 15th December, following which the shifting process will commence.”
Dr Tandon admitted that the shifting process will take 60–90 days to complete after the requisite clearances are received by the premier tertiary care hospital.
The Cath Lab facility provides angiography and angioplasty services to patients suffering from heart diseases. Winters are known to be a high-risk period for those with cardiovascular disorders.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said that the shifting of the facility at Hamidia Hospital will not affect patients, as there are nearly two dozen similar Cath Labs at Ayushman-empanelled hospitals in the district, in addition to all medical colleges and the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC).
