RMC’s Connect Centre flooded with complaints from Ranchiites

Monday, 12 August 2024 | Divya Modi | Ranchi

Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) one- stop grievance and redressal point Connect Centre has received as many as 4417 complaints from the residents of the State capital since its launch in April 2024.

A total of 3321complaints, which makes 75.19% of the complaints, have been resolved by the civic body within the specified time frame while 1096 (24.81%) remain unconcluded.

“The main objective of launching a Connect Centre was to address the complaints of the residents in a time bound process. For every activity there is fixed service level agreement hour like for a garbage collection, it should be done in 24 hours or for cleaning drains, it has to be done in 48 hours. If this is not sorted in the specified time, it gets escalated to the higher management. This is also enabling the organisation to monitor the work being done by its employees. The issues that have not been resolved include complaints like construction and repair of drains and roads and require more time to address,” said RMC Assistant Administrator, Chandradeep Kumar.

Prior to this, the citizens had to file written complaints or make calls on the RMC helpline number. With the introduction of Connect Centre, the service is now available 24X7.

“With the launch of Connect Centre, the people of Ranchi can now register their complaints through the app, email, Whatsapp Chatbot and also the website. Before this came into place, RMC would receive about 200- 300 complaints on a monthly basis, but with this system there is a significant increase in the number as it is very convenient for the citizens as well. Once the issue has been resolved, if the residents are unsatisfied with the solution, they can always reopen the complaint,” added the official.

The maximum complaints have been received for street lights not functioning, dump garbage, door- to- door garbage collection and water logging. Grievances regarding broken drain slabs, pipe bursts have also been registered.

As per statistics shared by the civic body, about 41% of the complaints received have been via the toll free number, 5% through the website, 17% from the Smart Ranchi app and the remaining 37% have been through emails, Whatsapp, letters, social media posts and publication in local newspapers.

Ranchiites can raise an issue or give feedback via the toll free number 18005701235, Whatsapp Chatbot 08141231235, grievance lodging website Smartranchi.in or download the RMC Citizen app Smart Ranchi which is available for both android and iOS. So far, more than one thousand citizens have downloaded 'Smart Ranchi' app through Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
