Procurement of soyabean with MSP to commence

The State Cabinet granted revised administrative approval for the ‘Kanh Diversion Close Duct Project.’ The project, with an updated cost of Rs 919 crore 94 lakh, is set to be completed on a pro-rata basis by the contracted agency within the stipulated time frame to facilitate the organization of Simhastha-2028.

It may be noted that administrative approval of Rs 598 crore 66 lakh was given for the Kanh Diversion Close Duct Project of Ujjain district. Under the project, it was proposed to flow the contaminated water of the Kanh River through a 16.70 km underground closed duct into the Kshipra River near Kaliyadeh outside the Ujjain city limits. An amount of Rs 479 crore 89 lakh was executed on 15 March 2024 for the work with M/s Vensar Ujjain Project. The work is to be completed by September 2027.

The alignment of the closed duct was changed to prevent contaminated water from mixing with the sacred Kshipra River. After the change, the current cost has become Rs 919 crore 94 lakh with an increase of Rs 321 crore 28 lakh due to the proposed 18.5 km cut/cover and 12 km tunnel.

The Cabinet decided to allow the procurement of soybean from registered farmers under the Price Support Scheme of the Central Government in the Kharif year 2024 (marketing year 2024-25) by the State Procurement Agency of Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sahkari Vipanan Sangh Maryadit.

Registration of farmers will be done from 25th September to 20th October and procurement will be done from 25th October to 31st December. 1400 centres will be made for soybean procurement, which can also be amended as per requirement. 13.68 lakh metric tonnes of soybean will be procured from farmers in the state at the rate of minimum support price of Rs 4892 per quintal. If the procurement exceeds the prescribed quantity, the state government will purchase soybean at its level.

The Cabinet has approved a 4-lane 16 km long cement concrete road from Bhatkheda to Dunglavada under the Neemuch district. Approval of Rs 133 crore was granted for the construction.

There is provision to pay the income tax payable on the allowances of the Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of Opposition by the government. The Assembly Speaker announced in the House on July 1 that he would pay his income tax himself. In this context, the Cabinet has approved the bill to amend the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker (Salary and Allowances) Act, which will be presented in the upcoming session of the Assembly.

There is a provision for the government to pay the income tax payable on the allowances of the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. The Leader of Opposition announced in the House on July 1 that he would pay his income tax himself.
