President Droupadi Murmru on Wednesday arrived in Odisha on a four-day visit to the State. She reached the Kichakeswari temple at Khiching in her native Mayurbhanj district.
Murmu, her daughter Sushri and Odisha Governor Raghubar Das had darshan of the goddess at the temple.
She laid the foundation-stone for a Central Government Holiday Home at Rairangpur. She also virtually laid the foundation-stones for various road projects and a Sports Complex at Rairangpur and inaugurated an Eklavya Model Residential School in Badasahi.
Murmu said, “I have been frequently visiting Odisha and it is only due to the love for my birthplace and love of the people that I am holding such a post. How can I forget the place?”
“There is a health centre in Rairangpur and it is catering to the patients of neighbouring States as well. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 5,900 crore under the National Health Mission. Cooperation of the State Government is required under the federal structure so that more developmental schemes can be extended to this area,” said Murmu.
In Odisha, 87 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools would be set up with the highest 19 in Mayurbhanj.
