Postal ballot cell in Palamu has geared up for the coming lok sabha election.
Nodal officer of this cell A K Tiwary, SDM sadar, today convened a meeting of his cell and reviewed the progress.
Speaking to this correspondent Tiwary said "There are 42,000 postal ballot users. We are determined to have a 100 percent utilisation of the postal ballots. The ECI is very strict with postal ballots and wants no laxity in it."
The total number of voters in Palamu is 16,93,169.
The figure of postal ballot pegged at 42,000 may appear thinner but postal ballot holds its own importance in electoral practice and its cent percent use is a happy sign of inclusiveness to the election / polling.
The nodal officer of the postal ballot cell Tiwary said "We will leave no stone unturned to achieve cent percent cast of postal ballot here in this lok sabha election. My team is dedicated and fully energised by me for this task."
There are 4,480 voters under electronically transferred postal ballot. Again there are 8,620 civil voters on election duty along with 2,600 police personnel or officials. A fleet of 3,000 voters may be drivers and photographers etc.
Tiwary said there will be mobile polling vans for absentee voters like voters in the age group of 80 years and above. Their count is 8,000.
Similarly PwD (person with disability) voters having 40 percent of the disabilities stand at 14,000.
However the nodal officer cautioned that the figure of 42,000 as of now may scale down as calculations are still on and no one knows if any 80 or 80 plus age voter offers to cast vote at the polling booth itself or any PwD having 40 percent deformity shows courage to cast vote at the polling booth.
