Opposition criticises AAP Government moments after Atishi takes oath as CM

Sunday, 22 September 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Moments after Atishi and her cabinet took oath, the opposition BJP and Congress criticised the AAP government. Both the parties said that only the face has changed, the government remains the same, so corruption, irresponsibility, and chaos will continue. Meanwhile, BJP MP from North East Delhi Manoj Tiwari wrotes to the Delhi CM over Delhi excise policy and repair of roads in the city. Delhi BJP said that she has been unsuccessful as a minister, and the people of Delhi have no expectations from her government moving forward. The Congress party said that as a Minister, Atishi had run away from her responsibilities so it is futile to expect any better from her as Chief Minister.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that with Atishi becoming chief minister, only the face has changed, not the character of the government. Since the government remains the same, corruption, irresponsibility, and chaos will persist.

He further added that if Atishi wants to offer a changed government, she should first open former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's luxurious bungalow, built at the cost of over Rs 60 crore during the pandemic, to the public, so they can see how they were exploited.

He also mentioned that Ms. Atishi assumed office against religious beliefs today, which indicates that the Delhi government will remain entangled in tough times.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav said that the Aam Aadmi Party’s propaganda that Atishi, who was sworn in as the chief minister following the resignation of Kejriwal, will perform miracles in the next few months to turn around the deteriorating  condition of the Capital, was a wishful thinking as  she had failed to address the problems of Delhi  in the past one and a half years as a Minister, holding 13 vital portfolios.

He said that Kejriwal destroyed Delhi in every possible manner in the past 10 years, and it was futile to expect his successor Atishi to do any better, as her performance as a Minister has been below par. He said that Atishi had  washed her hands off when the Capital got waterlogged, and many people died due to  drowning and electrocution, as neither the PWD, nor the MCD, could salvage the situation, in the absence of any desilting work before the monsoon, leaving the people to their own fate.
