More than 600 resident doctors of Bhopal AIIMS continued to protest for the second day, they are demanding strict punishment for the accused of raping and murdering a lady doctor in Kolkata.
The nursing staff has taken charge so that their strike does not disrupt the system. The nursing staff is managing OPD, dressing and minor operations. Doctors and other staff at Hamidia Hospital are working wearing black bands.
On Wednesday, the resident doctors protested by taking out a rally in the AIIMS campus. A lady doctor was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The resident doctors are protesting against such a heinous crime and to get justice for the victim's family. Their strike has been supported by the AIIMS Bhopal Nurses Association, but they are also treating patients.
Senior doctors and nursing staff are in charge of the entire system. About 600 resident or junior doctors of AIIMS are on strike. In such a situation, senior doctors have taken care of the system so that the treatment of patients does not get affected. AIIMS PRO KD Shukla said, junior doctors of AIIMS are on strike, but the senior doctors and nursing staff are in charge of the entire system. The number of doctors is around 200 and the nursing staff is around 500. At present, there is no problem of any kind.
Resident doctors in AIIMS Bhopal went on strike on Tuesday. Due to this, the nursing staff took charge and treated the patients alone in OPD, dressing room and minor operation theatres. So that, the patients do not face any problem. At some places, the nursing staff kept seeing patients till 7 pm even after the duty ended at 5 pm.
