Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari visited various rural areas of Sehore district's Budhni Assembly constituency to express gratitude to the voters for their support in the recent Budhni by-election.
Despite the BJP's dominance, Congress came close to victory, and Patwari lauded the voters for sending a historic message through their participation.
During his visit, Patwari paid condolences to the family of Rajesh Jat in Chapri village. Later, at Sudama Palace Garden in Bherunda, he met Congress workers and citizens from Bherunda, Ladkui, and Gopalpur blocks. He thanked them for their decisive role in strengthening Congress in the region.
Patwari held meetings with Congress workers in Rehti, Budhni, Shahganj, and Baktara and interacted with villagers, acknowledging their support. He remarked that the people of Budhni have set an example by challenging those who treated the region as their personal domain. He criticized the BJP for misleading the public with hollow promises and accused them of being disconnected from the people's issues.
Targeting former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Patwari stated that despite being in power for 20 years, Chouhan failed to address the needs of farmers and engaged in deceitful politics. He accused Chouhan of continuing to betray farmers even as the Union Agriculture Minister.
Patwari also criticized the BJP for failing to fulfill its promises made in the state elections, such as providing ?3,000 monthly for women, higher MSP for crops, affordable LPG cylinders at ?450, and employment for youth. He pointed out that after the elections, BJP replaced Chouhan with Mohan Yadav as Chief Minister, which disappointed the people of Budhni.
Expressing gratitude to the aware voters of Budhni, Patwari emphasized that their participation had sent a powerful message against arrogance and complacency in politics. He concluded by affirming Congress's commitment to serving the people's interests.
Patwari was accompanied by Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel, former MLA Shailendra Patel, District Congress President Rajeev Gujarati, Vikram Mastal, Jayashree Harikaran, Pawan Patel, and other Congress leaders.
