The infighting within the Madhya Pradesh Congress has reached at its peak, as the resentment with the State Congress president Jitu Patwari has come to fore in open on the behest of senior party leaders.
In the past, there have been instances of few party leaders getting annoyed with the PCC chief. But in the history, this is for the first time that all senior party leaders, altogether have opened a front against the PCC Chief.
The two-day State executive body meeting of the Congress commenced was started on Thursday, but all the senior party leaders remained absent from the meeting on both the days.
On the first day, it was the meeting of Political Affairs Committee and the State Executive, while on the second day, on Friday, it was the meeting of office-bearrrs and legislators.
Those who remained absent on Thursday included former chief Minister Kamal Nath, Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh, former Leader if the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh,
Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar, senior leaders Govind Singh, former PCC chief Arun Yadav, former minister Kamleshwar Patel, former Mahila Congress national president Shobha Oza, Congress MLA from Bhopal Central Arif Masood and others.
On Friday, Congress MLA and son of Digvijay Singh, Jaivardhan Singh attended the meeting.
PCC insiders said that on the second day, the name slip of Leader if the Opposition Umang Singhar, that was placed on a chair on the stage, was removed.
While talking to mediaperson on Friday, PCC Chief Jitu Patwatwari said that the whole Congress is united.
All the senior leaders who remained absent had in advance told about their inability to remain present in the meeting due to unavoidable reasons.
The absence of these heavyweights sends a strong message to the Congress high command about the eroding confidence in the current state leadership, as all this happened in the presence of AICC general secretary and in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Bhanwar Jitendra Singh.
Recently, during the Congress protest with the demands of farmers, with the efforts of PCC Chief Jitu Patwari, all senior leaders had participated in the agitation in their respective divisions.
Then, it was believed that the whole State unit of Madhya Pradesh Congress was united in the leadership of Patwari.
However, the situation changes fast in the State unit of the Congress, after the State executive body if the PCC and Political Affairs Committee were declared.
