INDIA block snacthes two seats from BJP in Dhanbad district

Sunday, 24 November 2024 | Pankaj | Dhanbad

The INDIA block made a dent on BJP in Dhanbad by taking two seats from the saffron party. Out of the 6 assembly seats in Dhanbad district, Sindri and Nirsa  that were with BJP in 2019 slipped  out of its hands. The CPI-ML wrested those seats with a comfortable margin.

In 2019, four seats of Dhanbad district went to BJP's account including  Dhanbad, Nirsa, Sindri and Baghmara. This time it's three for BJP, one for JMM and two for CPI-ML.

In Sindri Chandradeo Mahto defeated Tara Devi, wife of ailing outgoing MLA of BJP while Aparna Sengupta of  BJP had to suffer defeat at the hands of  arch rival Arup Chatterjee.

Incidentally, the  Jharia seat  once again has gone to BJP and in case of  Baghmara and Dhanbad-proper party succeeded in retaining them with a comfortable margin. Ragini Singh, wife of former BJP Jharia MLA Sanjeev defeated her cousin sister-in- law Poornima Niraj Singh.

While Raj Sinha hit a hat trick by  retaining this seat defeating Congress leader Ajay Dubey. In Baghmara Satrugan Mahto stepped into his brother Dhulu Mahto, who recently was elected as MP from Dhanbad. With this it is for the fourth successive  time that Mahto family is representing this seat in assembly.

As far as  Tundi seat is  concerned the  Jharkhand Mukti Morcha retained it with Mathura Prasad Mahato getting elected for fourth successive term from here defeating nearest rival Vikas Mahto with a comfortable margin.
