5 HELD FOR LOOTING BANK IN JAJPUR
Jajpur: Police arrested five persons on Friday for allegedly looting a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in the Jajpur town. The police have seized two bikes, computers, a printer, and CCTV cameras from the possession of the accused. The incident occurred at the PNB branch near Boulanga Square under Mangalpur police station. Although the looters attempted to break into the strong room, they were unsuccessful to break the treasury box and instead fled with computers, printers, and close circuit cameras. A complaint had been lodged with the Mangalpur police, leading to an investigation and subsequent arrests of the accused, identified as residents of Mahanga and Panikoili areas.
PARADIP SCHOOL PRINCIPAL HONOURED
Paradip: Principal, Kidzee School Paradip Tarinigada, Taapsee Samanthray was bestowed with the prestigious Olympia Award for Excellence in Education. NATUA MELA HELD IN PARALAKHEMUNDI
Paralakhemundi: A ‘Natua Mela’ was organised on the occasion of the World Theatre Day at the district headquarters town of Parlakhemundi here by theatre company "Tarang Rang". While Tarang Rang Institute president Natyashri Devendra Das chaired the function, Creative Arts president Narsingh Charan Patnaik, Odisha Music and Drama Academy member Guru Raghunath Pange and eminent dramatist Manoj Padhi were the guests. Stage actor M Thirtima Raj, Amirya Manigarahi, Shekhanshu Shekhar Patnaik, Satya Padhiyari and Harihar Patnaik participated in a discussion on theatre culture on the occasion. Actor Adams Das delivered the welcome speech. Balkhrishna Manigarahi, Kamdev Padhi, Shiva Pradhan and Sujith Panigarahi coordinated.
EX-JUNIOR CLERK GETS 5-YR RI FOR DA
Cuttack: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada on Saturday sentenced Pratap Chandra Keshi, former Junior Clerk, Special Planning Authority (SPA), Baripada in Mayurbhanj district to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case. The court also directed the convict to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 and in default to undergo five months’ more imprisonment. Disproportionate assets worth Rs 19 lakh of Keshi were also confiscated to the State and the convict Keshi was sent to judicial custody to serve the sentence. The Vigilance police would now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Keshi following his conviction.
