Punjab Police partners with Rashtriya Raksha University to Bolster Police Training and Skills
Chandigarh: To empower state’s police personnel with advanced skills to meet modern law enforcement challenges, the Punjab Police on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat-based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU). The initiative sought to enhance the capabilities of the police force with a focus on technological advancements, cyber crime, and security management.
The MoU was formally signed by Punjab’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Technical Services, Ram Singh and RRU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Kalpesh H Wandra, with the state Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav presiding over the event. This partnership is positioned as a landmark step in law enforcement education, reflecting Punjab Police's dedication to developing a skilled, future-ready force equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and practices. Under the terms of the agreement, RRU will provide a diverse suite of training modules that include both in-person and virtual learning opportunities, allowing Punjab Police personnel to access knowledge in several critical areas.
Punjab Govt to Explore Subsidy Models of Other States to Boost Horticulture
Chandigarh: Punjab’s Horticulture Department is setting a transformative agenda to reshape the state’s agricultural sector by focusing on high-profit, sustainable horticulture practices. Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, addressing a press conference in Chandigarh on Monday, highlighted the Department’s critical role in steering farmers toward more lucrative, environment-friendly agricultural options that address Punjab’s farming crisis. Bhagat explained that the Government aims to expand the area under horticulture, viewing it as a sustainable alternative to conventional wheat and paddy cultivation, which currently dominates the State. He positioned the Horticulture Department as a trusted advisory body, guiding farmers on crop diversification techniques and helping them establish expansive orchards. “This initiative not only enriches the state’s biodiversity but also conserves groundwater and improves air quality,” said Bhagat, emphasizing the role of orchards in expanding forest cover and producing health-promoting fruits.
Punjab Govt intensifies efforts to make cities garbage-free
Chandigarh: In a push toward urban transformation, Punjab’s Local Government Minister Dr Ravjot Singh on Monday directed the officials to expedite ongoing development projects across the state to create garbage-free cities in Punjab. The directive came during a high-level review meeting in Chandigarh, attended by Cabinet Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchakk and Dr Balbir Singh, alongside Municipal Commissioners, additional Deputy Commissioners, and executive officers from various districts and municipalities.
