Stating that new initiatives are being taken to provide quality education in the State, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that now, a college is established within every 20 kilometres, providing relief to the state's girls who no longer need to travel long distances for higher education.

Saini said this while addressing a public gathering after laying the foundation stone for Maharani Padmavati Girls College, which is being constructed by Sri Sitaram Ji Seva Samiti in Palwal. Besides, the Chief Minister also inaugurated an indoor stadium at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Palwal, built at a cost of approximately Rs 14 crores.

Praising the glorious history of Maharani Padmavati, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the students of this College would also imbibe good values. He announced a grant of Rs 31 lakhs for the College's construction from his discretionary fund, while assuring that the State Government would continue to support the project to ensure its swift completion.

In another event organized by the Jat Kalyan Sabha in Gurugram, the Chief Minister said: “Our society has a long-standing culture of generously donating to social causes, whenever any noble cause is initiated.” On the occasion, Saini laid the foundation stone for the Jat Kalyan Sabha building, and congratulated the Sabha stating that the building will serve all communities of society.

Talking about the forthcoming 78th Independence day, he urged the citizens to participate in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign actively. “The long struggle of our freedom fighters endured to secure the freedom we enjoy today. It is our collective responsibility to make this campaign a success. We should all actively participate in this campaign to strengthen the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’,” he added.

Expressing his concern over the decreasing greenery and rising temperatures, Saini stated that Prime Minister Modi has envisioned “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” during the monsoon season to combat air pollution. He appealed to the citizens to participate in this campaign and take a pledge to plant and nurture trees at our homes, nearby parks, or along roadsides. The Forest Department will provide saplings for this purpose.

  1. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of PM Modi, both the central government and the state government, termed as the “double-engine government”, have driven rapid development in mission mode over the past 10 years. Today, every district in the State is connected by national highways. In the case of Gurugram, one can reach Mumbai in 14 hours and Katra in 6 to 7 hours. He also mentioned several steps taken by the government for the welfare of farmers.
